Which airline have you found to have the most reasonable fares from UK or US to various parts of Africa?

i would shamelessly give a thumbs up to Kenya Airways..but watch out..Virgin Atlantic is penetrating aggressively the African market so i am sure competition will go a notch higher

Thank you for the reply. Yes, when competition enters the picture, we as consumers are the ones who benefit! I'll check out Kenya Air, but also keep an eye open fo Virgin fares.

I will have to check these out. I had heard also that Virgin fares were pretty reasonable. My problem is we are not going for awhile so I really cannot get the tickets this far in advance. I am thinking about using a tour place here in the states to book the trip. Haven't reallly decided though for sure yet.

How far in advance do you think you'll book your flight and hotels, etc.? I know that things like that should be done in plenty of time, but I usually wait as long as I can. I guess my thinking is that if something changes, it's a pain to cancel reservations and make them again for another date, but I really should get over that.

I think the best way to go is through a travel agent. They usually can find you a pretty good deal. That is what I do when I travel. It seems the best way for me.

You're right about the travel agencies sometimes being able to get you the better deal. That happened when we went to Florida. I have been checking into some of the package deals. I might just see what the local travel agencies have to offer.

Everyone is talking about travel agents a lot, has anyone ever planned their trip all on their own, and which is better?

If I am going somewhere I have been before that is not fae away sometimes i plan it myself. But I find if you have never been there before, and know nothing about it it is best to go through a travel agent.

I do the planning for our trips. Since the internet is such a big help with research on *every* aspect of any destination, it's so easy to plan every part of a trip. If it would be a totally new place that perhaps isn't as safe as other destinations, I think I'd maybe book with a group tour or at least use an agent.

I have done planning on my own but if I am not real accustomed to the place I am visiting I tend to like to use a travel agent and also check out reviews on the internet.

I think I agree with the majority here, the more I am looking in to things the more I realize that I should use a travel agency.

I know that I have found a lot better packages overall here with our local travel agency. I think that I will use them instead of booking online. I am really glad that I checked into the travel agency here.

I have checked on the internet for the places we would like to see while we are there. And then when I go to see the travel agent I tell them what I would like to see. And let them take it from there. And when they get what they think I would want they go over it with me. It seems to work out good for me.
