has any of you ever thought how the pyramids were built? This question has even staggered scientist. I'm trying to think of how they were able to haul the stones which weighed tonnes to those great heights and build a perfect pyramids.

i got this from another site "The Great Pyramid is of such magnitude that it could not be built today. It is 90 times the volume of the Chicago Sears Tower. Napoleon said there was enough stone in the pyramid to build a 10 foot high brick wall all the way around France! Some stones near the top, 400 feet from the ground, weigh 20 tons!
"
amazing!!

Some links i got from the net

Yes, I am so amazed when I think about how they lifted these rocks to build the pyramids. Thanks for the information. I had never seen them compared to the Sear's Tower.

I've wondered this since I was a little girl, yes.  I remember seeing pictures of how it may have
been done, but it was always so fascinating to me.

In school we studied the pyramids for a long time. The pyramids are an amazing feat in architectural history, for sure. They used ramps to bring the stones all the way to the top of what they had already built, and ropes were a major part in the building process. It's very fascinating.

When you look at them it is just so hard to imagine that even with ramps and ropes that they were still able to build them and to really stand the test of time is amazing.

Yes, even with all the man power, ropes, and ramps, the job would be amazingly difficult. It's so fascinating to watch those documentaries on the pyramids. Everybody has a slightly different take on what went on. It wonder how long they really took to build?

The more amazing thing for me was how they've stood for so long more than how they were
built.  And then to wonder how much longer they'll still stand.  Incredible!

The Pyramids have always fascinated me with how they were built and how long they have stood. I wish that the buildings we have today had the same withstanding power!

Yes it is amazing to see how they were built. and for them to stand as long as they have. The buildings we build today don't alwys last that long.

Yup, the pyramids are absolutely amazing! This is one of the main reason I want to visit Egypt - I can't even begin to imagine how they were made.
