I was just wondering if there are good tours that you can go on in Egypt or is it better to just go on your own? I tend to like to go on my own because then you are not on someone else's timeframe but there is just so much to see that I cannot help but wonder if a tour would be the better bet.

I'm really not sure which I would choose, but there are definitely upsides and downsides to both options.
If you go with a tour guide, you'll probably get much more information and you might feel more comfortable traveling.
If you go on your own, you'll be on your own time schedule, but may have more trouble navigating the area.

That is why I just cannot seem to decide on whether to take a tour or not. I have taken tours and really liked them and they are easier and you get more information at times. But then on the flipside sometimes you don't really get what you pay for. I guess I will just ponder it some more and make a decision after looking at what some of the tours have to offer. Thanks

I've been told that a tour is the best option. Get a guide who speaks the language and yours as well and take your explorations from there.

That is so true about getting a guide that speaks the language and understands yours also. I never even thought about that but that would be a big help.

I think that I would take a tour especially the first time you go. After that you can always go on your own. and take all the time you want.

This sounds like a good plan to me, too... and then you could ask the guide about places that may
not be safe for tourists to wander on their own.

That is true. A tour guide would be able to tell you the safest places for tourists, and what you should stay away from.

That is one of the main reasons I would take a tour because when you don't know a place you really don't know what the best things to see might be and the areas that may not be safe for tourists.

I agree with the other posters. I think I will have to try to find a tour, because I do not want to end up in the wrong part of the area.

I would also recomend a tour if it is your first time visiting. The tours on the Africa Point website are amazing and personal. I did the Best of Egypt Experience and got to travel all around and see and do everything in Egpyt. I went with a friend and we had our own guide, private transportation and some free time to do your own thing.
