What are the must foods that you should try when you go to Africa. I am not very familiar with the local foods so was looking for some that I have to make sure to try. Thanks

I would really like to know too. I'm very interested in trying different types of food, and I love to try new things in general. What kinds of food would I expect to find throughout Africa?

I really can't help you, but it is something I would be interesting in knowing. I like trying new things. P am sure that what they eat everyday is completely different then what we are used too.

I am interested in finding out the answers to this as well. I love to try all kinds of foods from different cultures. Would love to know what is something that you would eat in Africa pretty much on a daily basis.

I have been able to find websites about restaurants through out the United States that offer African-themed food, but they don't have a menu or anything.  I didn't know there were so many African food restaurants in the states.

To be honest I don't know of any African food resturants around. I am sure there are but just haven't seen any.

I need to apologize I have not had a chance to search yet. I am thinking that there has to be some type of food that would be mainly found in Africa? I am headed to do a search right now.

Many of the larger US cities have at least one African restaurant.  Chicago and New York come to
mind as definitely having some.  One in Chicago is called Yassa.  Pittsburgh has an Ethiopian restaurant...
just check the phone book listings for your closest major city and you'll probably find one.  Now
I'm hungry!   Smiley

If you're near Pittsburgh, the Ethiopian Restaurant is called Abay.  Start with an appetizer of
Sambussa (Spicy Chicken flavor if you don't mind the heat! but there's also a milder beef flavor)
which is shells wrapped and stuff with the meat, peppers, spices, etc.

The potato salad has a cinnamon flavor, so that's a good side dish.  You'll have a tough time
choosing an entree, too.  A lot of it involves beef or chicken, but there are vegetarian choices,
too... I just happen to like meat.

Being a big fan of beef and chicken, the food sounds great. Potato salad with a cinnamon flavor sounds interesting, and sounds like something that I would like to try. I'll have to try out one of these places nearby and report back to you guys about it.

I had a chance to look it up and some of the more common foods in Africa are lentils, vegetables and beans. They use these alot in their foods.  Along with alot of different spices.

Yes... and none of those are among my favorite things, so I'll still go after the
meat.  Smiley   Most cuisines in that whole region use a lot of things like lentils but I
find that I'm more interested in experimenting with the various spices.
