It's proving difficult to plan an itinerary for the region.  If you had only ten days in Africa, how would
you divide the time between the countries?  I definitely want Egypt and Kenya... would you do five
days at each place, or is there a third "do not miss" area?

I am interested in this as well. I would love to see Egypt and Kenya, but where else is a great destination location?

It's starting to feel as if we'll need to be chopping something short because the region is so vast,
but how does one decide what to give up?  And it simply can't be longer than 10 or possibly 11
days, so they are very difficult choices!  One thing I won't give up is Egypt, though.   Smiley

What about just devoting 5 days to Kenya and 5 to Egypt? Would that work? Or maybe 3 to Kenya, 5 to Egypt and 2 open so if you wish to travel you could?

Yes, this is what I've been thinking.  It's also important not to spend a lot of time actually
traveling between countries, but I'm sure a travel agent could help with the best itinerary
for that.

That is what I would do. Let them know what you want and i am sure they can accomadate you. I have always had good luck with my travel agent.

And try to get in touch with local guides, maybe an agent can recommend some.

I am sure that your travel agent will be a great deal of help setting you up with a local guide. They stay in contact with most all those people.
