Casablanca, of course!  How I'd love to see it and spend a few days or a
week there.  I suppose it's partially from the movie fame, but not totally.
How safe is Morocco for travelers (Western travelers especially) these days?

I think Casablanca is a place that I would like to visit as well, but mainly because of the movie as well.

I am really not to sure on the safety issue. I would think it would be alright. I would love to see Casablanca someday. I am with you though I only know it through the movie.

I would assume that Morocco is safe depending on the places that you go to as is the case with any place really.

Yes... but I'm pretty sure I've read that the movie wasn't filmed there but rather
in the studio.   Smiley

Yes, maybe... but I was thinking about the terrorist attack at Casablanca a few years ago
and I don't really know how much they've cleaned up security since then.

You're probably right that it was shot in a studio but I still think about the movie first when I think about Casablanca.

Yes, there's just a "romantic" feeling about the place because of the move.  I realize
that I used to feel that way about Baghdad, too... just something mysterious about
places like that.

Yes I agree there is a romantic feeling when you think about it. Even though the movie was not filmed there it would be neat to go there.

You know I would have to agree with the poster above in that I used to think of Baghdad as this mysterious place filled with history and now sadly that feeling is not there anymore. I hope one day that I can see either one.

Yes... filled with open air markets and lots of beautiful rugs hanging around for sale.  Maybe even
a magic carpet or two.   Smiley  But yes, that's not the image at all any longer.

It is sad and I bet the people that live their also wish there was such a thing as a magic carpet? I know I would want one if I was living their now. You know what though it is amazing how people adapt to situations. I mean from what I have seen their are still open markets and the like just not as many. Hopefully one day when this is all over it will go back to its natural beaty and culture.

I think it is jist like most of us they try to make the best of a bad situation. I thiink they have to make things as normal as they can. Lets hope someday it gets back the way it used too be.

You're right I guess you really don't have much choice when you think about it. You do what you need to do no matter what is going on.
Back to Morocco though, has anyone on here ever been to Morocco?
