Like anywhere else, remember terrorist concerns when traveling to Morocco. There was, we all probably remember, a pretty bad attack in Casablanca three or four years ago. So like other world destinations when traveling, just keep alert.

You're right that you need to keep this in mind when traveling now. I find it so sad that you have to now but it is a fact that we have to deal with now.

Very sad, yes. Even places that seem like they'd be safe for travelers (i.e. London) could have problems. I like to keep it in mind when traveling, by remembering where it is they like to strike... such as nightclubs and open air markets, so I won't go there. It *is* difficult, though, because before the Casablanca attack, I wouldn't have considered that place unsafe.

Yes I agree that it is really sad that when traveling to places to have fun and be happy in the back of your mind you always have the fear of terrierism.

That's a very good traveling tip. Unfortunately, terrorism is a problem that everybody has to deal with when traveling. I really wish that it wasn't this way.

You're right I think you just need to take more precautions and remember to just be more aware of your surroundings and the people around you and what they may be doing. But you have to find a medium ground because you also don't want to be so afraid that you don't enjoy yourself.

This fact hit home for me just a few months after 9-11 and it stuck with me. We went to Orlando and when Disney parks (Magic Kingdom and Epcot) had to go through our bags and my purse, I knew that things changed forever... wasn't expecting that at Disney. I went through it at Kennedy Space Center, but I was expecting that one.

I think it is everywhere, and that is indeed sad. I remember growing up and not worrying about much of anything.

You cannot let it stop you from doing things though.

Nope, not at all. The point is that it's all over, even "safe" sounding places like Casablanca... so not to be mindful and watchful when traveling is a bit foolish.

Definitely do not let it stop you from doing things that you want to do, but also remain cautious of your surroundings in order to remain safe.

I'm usually quick to say this same thing, but I've found that I need to work more on actually putting it into practice. I went to New York last month and except for a sliding glass hotel balcony door that didn't seem safe, I'm afraid I didn't think about it much. In fact, it wasn't until after I got back that I realized some of the activities we did probably weren't the wisest choices. It's just very difficult to put oneself into that mode when we're used to being truly free.

That's true, however, I am always cautious anytime I am out. I never really feel "truly free", but I can see how some people would have more problems being cautious in some situations that they are used to being in.

That's very wise. We're doing a very long road trip in a few weeks and I MUST remember. In the past, as one example, I'd have had no problem going into an interstate rest stop bathroom at 3 a.m. Now I'm sure it would freak me out and I'd not do it.... so slowly it's sinking in that we're not as free now. (Okay, so that wouldn't be terrorist related, but a dark rest stop with no one else seemingly around isn't a good idea anyhow!)

I think wherever you go you have to be more careful. Terrorism could happen anywhere. I think instead of being affraid, you should just be much more alert of your surroundings.
