Title: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: katharina on September 05, 2007, 06:21:38 AM Has anyone been to both of these cities? If so, which would you say is better for a
tourist who hasn't stayed in the area before? That would include better attractions and lodging as well as dining. Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: Lynn on September 11, 2007, 10:07:46 AM I'd say definitely Cape Town! You could never go wrong with Cape Town!
This is indisputably South Africa's the most beautiful city and has a diverse range of attractions, sights and activities to offer. Its just magical, yet so real you would not believe you are in a city. Jo'burg, compared to Cape Town is not all that... and Im not saying that Jo'burg isn't a good destination but Cape town beats it hands down. Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: riskey58 on September 11, 2007, 05:27:26 PM I would all so say Capetown.A friend of mine went there and they said it was beautiful. They have been quite a few place in Africa, and they like it the best. I hope this helps.
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: tater03 on September 12, 2007, 02:07:30 PM I have never been to either. But I can say that my parents have been to Capetown three times now and the love going their. For some reason they haven't went to Johannesburg yet.
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: katharina on September 12, 2007, 05:29:53 PM I'd say definitely Cape Town! You could never go wrong with Cape Town! Great then! And considering this is the same answer that everyone gave so far, it seems like the place to visit without any question. Thank you. :) Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: 3plus3 on September 13, 2007, 12:07:43 PM When I hear about Johannesburg, I always envision that as a place with a lot of fighting or famine. Did this ever happen long ago?
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: riskey58 on September 23, 2007, 05:01:51 PM Well have a great time in Capetown. It is a great place to visit. Take a lot of pictures so you can always look back onit.

Did this ever happen long ago? The violence you're probably thinking of was pre-apartheid. Things have gotten much better since they're past that. Just be alert like we have to be anywhere we travel in today's "new world." Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: tater03 on September 24, 2007, 07:37:16 AM Which one is more crowded population wise? Does anyone happen to know? Yes I have heard that Johannesburg is better to visit now than it was a few years back. At least that is what I am seeing from looking around for information on my trip when we go.
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: 3plus3 on September 26, 2007, 06:28:31 AM Thanks for clearing that up for me Katharina. It probably was quite a long time ago.
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: riskey58 on October 20, 2007, 05:03:41 AM I have heard that things have changed a lot there. No matter where you travel these days you have to be cautious. It is sad but that is just the way it is these days.
Title: Re: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: 3plus3 on October 23, 2007, 06:09:48 AM I never realized that Cape Town was indeed so beautiful. I googled some pictures of the area and it is very nice.

I also agree with Lynn, It is the most beautiful city in South Africa ;D ;D ;D. If you have chances, why dont you visit both and then compare them yourself? :P :PThis is indisputably South Africa's the most beautiful city and has a diverse range of attractions, sights and activities to offer. Its just magical, yet so real you would not believe you are in a city. Jo'burg, compared to Cape Town is not all that... and Im not saying that Jo'burg isn't a good destination but Cape town beats it hands down. Title: Cape Town or Johannesburg? Post by: whsloman on October 25, 2009, 01:29:54 AM Cape Town is the answer - in the Gardens you get to feed the squirrels as well, and the view from Table Mountain makes it worth while, all the others you will be able to see and do at the Waterfront, the Castle and Longstreet.
