Ain't got a clue - travel company advice

Alright everyone?

Long-time-lurker, first-time-poster lookin for some advice about travelling to Tanzania. Well, it's more about a company.

Most of my hols have been the ol' beach/get lashed thing, but I'm fed up of the people I go on holiday with, they're just a bunch of bankers, literally. I want something a bit more, I dunno the word... but just not like that. Tanzania seems to fit the bill, and I mentioned this to a decent bloke in my office, who sent me a link to a company that's doing a competition to win four weeks in Tanzania  (I've got enough cash saved up that I reckon I'll pay for the hol if I don't win).

But I've travelled with some dodgy companies before and don't want to go through all that mess again, especially if I end up having to pay. And I wanna make sure that this hol gives me enough of a kick up the backside that I go and do something a bit more interesting than what I'm doing right now.

Any of you lads and lasses on here used them before? Do you reckon they're any good?

Welcome to the forum. I have never heard of this company (i-to-i) before, but from their website and other references in the internet, I understand they specialize in volunteer travel. This may be a good way of traveling and learning more about the people and culture in the destination country. If this is what you are interested in, you should definitely review this company alongside other similar opportunities, just to be sure.

I've seen a number of positive reviews of the company, and two negative reviews:
this one and this one at LP. While these two alone should not be the sole basis for making your decision, they should give you reason to investigate further.

If you have the resources to travel to Tanzania independently, you can also search what other reputable travel companies (and they are several) have to offer, compare, then make an informed choice. We at Africapoint do offer some Tanzania safari packages that you may be interested in.

I'll have a look around like you said. I'm kinda not sure what to do now because they've got 15% off all their trips right now, so I'm takin a bit of a chance of going for the compy and missing out on the offer.

No immunizations are required by law to enter Tanzania if you are travelling directly from Europe or the US. If you are travelling from a country where Yellow Fever is present you will need to prove you have had the inoculation. Citizens of the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and most countries in the EU, need a tourist visa to enter Tanzania. Tanzanians are well known for their friendly, laid-back attitude. Don't walk on your own at night in the major cities or on empty beaches especially in Pemba and Zanzibar. The rainy seasons in Tanzania are from March to May and November to December.
