I was thinking the same thing, I wonder why no one has anything to say about Western Africa, should I stay away from there on my visit?

I have heard some bad things about Western Africa. I've heard that Ghana can be dangerous, due to pickpocketing, purse snatching, and scams, like the police scam in another thread.
On the other hand, I have heard that Gambia is quite nice.

Well I am sure glad that there is someone else wondering the same thing that I was. I haven't heard anything about it. So any information would be good to hear.

Well I am guessing that other than what is posted in this thread that there is not much else to talk about Western Africa. So I think I will play it on the safe side and just stay away.

That is a very good question. I never really thought about it other then most of the places I have looked into to visit just are not in Western Africa.

I am not to sure what all there is to see but I am sure that there is alot of history sites to see. Someone was saying that the US has urged people to not travel to certain places within West Africa. Has anyone heard this or where would you go to see if this is true still? thanks

Thank you for your information. It is not that I would ever go there. I was just wondering. Like you said I am sure there is a lot of history there to see.

I would choose the city of Accra in Ghana which is right on the Atlantic Ocean and is a resort area as well as a historical place. Itisnot always hot and they do get cool breezes off the ocean. _____________ Bentley parts

As a Dutch woman I have been living for 5 years in Ghana. It's a marvelous, peacefull country, with the most beautiful beaches in the world. Fortunately there are not to many tourists.
